Senior Hands-on Software Architect
Reporting to: Director of Engineering
We are seeking a highly experienced and technically adept Senior Hands-on Software Architect to drive the design, development, and delivery of our core platforms. At FUTR, this critical hybrid role is central to expanding our AI Agent ecosystem and realizing the vision of consumer-centric data monetization.
You will bridge the gap between abstract design and concrete implementation, ensuring our platforms are scalable, reliable, and built to the highest engineering standards as we deliver Gen 2.0 Payments and smart financial tools to our enterprise partners and consumers. You won't just draw diagrams; you'll write production-ready code. Don’t worry you get to draw diagrams too.
Key Responsibilities
Architectural Leadership (50%)
Design & Strategy: Drive the technical vision, architecture, and technology roadmap for major product initiatives, focusing on long-term sustainability and business goals.
System Design: Lead the design and documentation of complex systems, microservices, and APIs, specifically addressing scalability, security, performance, and fault tolerance.
Technology Selection: Evaluate, prototype, and recommend new technologies, frameworks, and patterns to solve technical challenges effectively.
Standards & Governance: Establish coding standards, design patterns, and best practices across development teams and enforce architectural governance through reviews and consultations.
Risk Mitigation: Proactively identify technical debt and architectural risks, developing clear plans to address them.
Development & Coding (50%)
High-Quality Implementation: Spend significant time writing high-quality, complex, and performant code in TypeScript, particularly on core architectural components and critical path features.
Proof-of-Concepts (POCs): Develop hands-on prototypes and proof-of-concept implementations for new architectural components or challenging integrations.
Mentorship & Coaching: Act as a technical mentor to senior and mid-level engineers, providing guidance on complex implementation details, debugging, and advanced coding techniques.
Code Review: Perform thorough code reviews to ensure adherence to established architectural guidelines, security policies, and performance objectives.
CI/CD & DevOps: Collaborate with DevOps teams to optimize deployment pipelines, infrastructure-as-code (IaC), and monitoring strategies.
Required Qualifications
Experience: 8+ years of experience in software development, with at least 3 years explicitly functioning as a hands-on Software Architect or Principal Engineer.
Coding Proficiency: Deep, demonstrable expertise in at least one modern, high-scale programming language (TypeScript/Node.js).
Architecture Patterns: Expert knowledge of distributed systems, microservices architecture, event-driven architecture, RESTful API design, and asynchronous communication patterns.
Data Warehousing: Working with Snowflake.
Cloud Platforms: Extensive experience designing and deploying solutions on a major public cloud provider (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
Data Stores: Proficiency with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB).
Containerization & Orchestration: Strong working knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes.
AI development tools: Copilot or Claude
Knowledge of Figma and design to code features
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
AI/ML Experience: Practical experience integrating or developing services utilizing Large Language Models (LLMs) or other AI/ML solutions.
Blockchain & Web3: Experience designing or integrating with decentralized ledger technologies, smart contracts (e.g., Solidity), or Web3 technologies.
Familiarity with functional programming paradigms and defensive coding practices.
Cloud Architect certification (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional).
